FAQ Section

No. Black Flag Art delivers museum-grade digital files only.

We encourage you to work with:
• a trusted local fine-art print lab, and
• a professional framer of your choice.

If you prefer an online solution, we’ve had good experiences with WhiteWall, who offer high-quality fine art printing (sometimes called giclée printing) and framing services. https://www.whitewall.com/

Choosing paper, finish, and framing is part of the pleasure of living with the work. There are so many combinations. If you find this overwhelming and absolutely need guidance: we find that in general you will not go wrong printing on the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag family of papers and framing your print with a thin black, white or natural wood frame. Floating frames and dibond (where the print is backed onto aluminium) can work well too.

What happens next:
• After you send your brief and reference material to [email protected]
• Within 7 days, the studio develops a series of visual directions
• You receive up to eight initial images to review
• After you select one, we finalise colour grading and prepare the master file
• Your final artwork is delivered digitally within 10 days of receiving your initial brief

Full details are outlined in the Custom Commission Process document you received with your order.

Yes, all works presented on Black Flag Art are original creations and you may ask for a certificate of originality. Certificates are issued personally and reference the artwork and the order details. If you would like a certificate for your purchase, please contact us at [email protected].

Artists may reference art history, photography, fashion, or culture — as artists always have — but the final artworks are original compositions created specifically for Black Flag Art.

Yes.

Each artwork download includes two main high resolution files.
If the full master Print16k.tif file feels heavy for your system, we recommend downloading the PrintJPEG.jpg file.
• The JPEG is typically 50–100MB, which will be acceptable for all modern computers.
• Extremely high quality.
• Suitable for professional printing and large formats.
• Widely used by photographers and print labs.

For most people, this JPEG file is more than sufficient.

Both files are ultra-high-resolution (16K) and prepared for fine-art printing, but they serve slightly different purposes:

TIFF
• The gold standard
• Uncompressed or losslessly compressed
• Maximum colour depth and data
• Preferred by some fine-art printers and museums
• Very large file size

JPEG
• Carefully compressed with no visible loss
• Much smaller file size
• Easier to handle and share
• Used by many photographers, artists and galleries
• Accepted by most professional print labs

Both files are professional-grade. Choose the one that best fits your workflow.
